The Ride
Makya was
standing by his dark brown mare, gently stroking her soft nose. Storm flew in
circles above. The horse nuzzled him from time to time when he stopped his
rubbing or he looked about nervously. "Yeah, I know Swift, I know" He
hoped that when Pralla showed up he wouldn't be a shaking mess, but he wasn't
going to hold his breath on that.
Jeslyn came bounding into Pralla's tent. “Aren’t you up yet? We’re going to the horses today. Remember? Pralla peered at the pup. “Bright morning to you too. I remember and yes I am up. I am also ready to go.” They head out of the tent and over to where the horses are kept.
Jeslyn got more and more energetic the closer they got. Pralla just smiled at her enthusiasm. “Look, Pralla! There he is. MAKYA!” The pup waves furiously after her hollering of his name, and bounds over to him.
Pralla shook her head at Jeslyn, and approached a bit more sedately. “Bright morning, Makya. How fares it?”
"Things are well with me, and it would seem Jeslyn is feeling very well, how fares you, Pralla?" He was very happy his voice had stayed steady and not wavered.
Jeslyn grinned at Makya. “Yes, I am. Oh, bright morning.” She looked a bit dejected at forgetting her manners.
Pralla gave a chuckle. “At least you remembered them at all, Jes.” Turning to Makya, and doing her best not to become flustered, she gives a soft smile. “I’m fine, Makya, thank you.” Inwardly she groaned. Why did all intelligence seem to desert her when Makya was around and talking to her?
He kept from laughing at the pup as she quickly remembered her manners. "Come, Jeslyn, this is Swift Flight. She's a bit of a prankster to the other horses, but she's nice enough to elves. She likes her nose rubbed just so." He demonstrated for the pup and then took her hand in his and held it up to the horse’s nose. Swift sniffed Jeslyn's hand and then nuzzled it. Makya stepped back a step then looked at Pralla. His voice seemed to waver just slightly, "You shine like the daystar, Pralla." He flushed a bit. "Umm, shall we?" He motioned to the horses hoping to bring her attention off his ineptness of conversation and his shyness.
She didn’t doubt it at that remark as she felt her face heat up like the daystar on its hottest day. “T-t-thank you,” was all she could murmur at first as she dropped her head down. Catching a movement out of the corner of her eye, she looked up in time to see him gesture to the horses. “Y-yes. Just give me a moment to saddle… uh...” Now she really flushed. How could she forget what her dratted horses name was? She must look a total fool. Quickly, before a comment could be made, she hurried off to catch and saddle her horse, Spirit Dancer. Oh, now the name comes to me.
He watched her go and thought to himself; at least I'm not the only one tripping over my own tongue. He sighed and smiled as he turned back to Jeslyn and Swift Flight. "Well, she seems to like you, Jeslyn." He knelt down, partly to be closer to the pup, and partly to stretch his legs for the ride ahead. Storm called from above and he looked up. "She won't bother us on our ride, I'll send her to the roost, but I had to exercise her a bit this morning." He looked back at the pup, "Can I ask you something that's just between us?" He gave the pup a conspirators wink.
It was all Jeslyn could do not to roll her eyes as Makya had tried showing her how to approach and get to know a horse. He meant well though, and truthfully, most of the other colts, probably had no clue, so she suffered the instructions.
She’d been getting to know Swift Flight quite well, petting and murmuring to her. She almost snickered as she listened to the adults stumble over their words to each other. Just barely kept laughter contained as Pralla forgot Spirit Dancer’s name and hurriedly walked away.
She listened to Makya as he spoke to her. She gave a shrug. “While I’m not as crazy about them as say, Nahoku, I prefer the horses, she doesn’t bother me either.” Her eyes widened as he wanted to ask her something that no one else would know. All she could do was nod her head yes in wonderment.
He smiled as he lowered his voice to a whisper, "Well, I want to do something for Pralla. You know, like a gift. What would you suggest...what would she like?" He looked at the pup with a serious light in his eyes. He looked in the direction that Pralla went off in. "It could be our little secret, and I'll be more than happy to take you on other rides. Swift Flight isn't very good without me around, she may not allow you to ride without me around, but maybe, just maybe if you help me out, I can see if I can convince her to let you ride around with me on the ground." He looked at the pup with sincerity at his words.
Jeslyn stroked Swift Flight’s neck thoughtfully as she mulled over Makya’s question. Pralla never had shown much interest in things of material nature, with the exception of the necklace Mirrum made her. She brightens, “make her something. She likes things made for her.” She beamed at how she’d solved his problem.
It didn’t take long for Pralla to catch Spirit Dancer, she always did come for her. Quickly, she had Spirit Dancer saddled, but she took a bit longer to try to get herself under control.
He thought about it for a moment, "That's a great idea, Jeslyn. A great idea indeed." He smiled at the pup and rocked back on his heels. "I will make her something." He watched her, "You truly are very good with the horses. Swift usually doesn't take to others quickly. She likes you I think." Looking for Pralla he sent to her ~*Did you get lost?*~ a soft chuckle with the send.
Pralla started at the send from Makya. Quickly, she gathered the reins and walked over to Makya and Jeslyn. Observing Jeslyn’s beaming face she shook her head, “Enjoying yourself, Jes?” She looked shyly at Makya. “Shall we ride?” She wondered what it was he’d wanted to talk to her about. She wondered if she’d become tongue-tied even worse when the time came.
He stood, stretching out his back before he looked over at Pralla. "Of course, we shall ride! I promised this young one a ride and I keep my word." He winked at Jeslyn and then moved around getting ready to mount, "Why don't you go up before me?" allowing Jeslyn to mount up before he did, that way she could show what she knew. He looked over at Pralla, staring for a moment before blushing.
Jeslyn grinned in delight. Quickly, but softly she moved around to where Makya was standing. She grabbed a fist-full of Swift Flight’s mane and sprung on her back. She settled herself more comfortably and beamed down at Makya.
Pralla watched as Jeslyn mounted. She was proud of her niece. She just wished Jeslyn would learn other things as quickly as she did horse stuff. All of a sudden she felt eyes on her. Glancing at Makya, her eyes met his. She blushed and lowered her gaze, not even noticing that he was blushing as well. Why was he staring at me so?
"Well done, Jeslyn, you're a natural." He smiled as he effortlessly vaulted onto Swift behind Jeslyn. "Which way should we go? Your call, Jeslyn." He was making this special for the pup, but kept looking over Pralla. She really is beautiful he thought and blushed as he thought it. He sent to Pralla again, privately his send a bit shaky ~**Anyone ever tell you, you're beautiful?**~ His blush deepened and he was happy the pup was in front of him so she didn't see
Jeslyn couldn’t have been more proud of herself, she felt like she was going to burst. First she’d help Makya to figure out what to give Pralla, and then Makya praises her on being good with horses, and now she was the one being asked where to ride, even though it was Pralla he was interested in. She had a feeling she was an excuse for the both of them to be around each other. She didn’t mind, she liked Makya, though he preferred the eagles over horses, but hey, not everyone was perfect. She knew Pralla liked him as well, though she’d die of shyness and embarrassment, than admit it. Well, she was on Makya’s side on this. She’d do what she could to help him catch her aunt. “Oh, can we go that way?” She pointed towards the mountain near by.
Pralla let out a small gasp at Makya’s send. *N-no. Well, except mom or dad when they were alive.* She was blushing furiously by now. Yet at the same time she was thrilled, he thought her beautiful.
He chuckled softly, "To the mountain it is then. Come along Swift Flight, let's give this young one a ride shall we?" He looks at Pralla and gives her a wink. ~**Well you are beautiful, and you need to hear it.**~ His send was shy, but sincerity was thick through it. As the horse started to move in the direction he guided with his legs more than his hands, he looked over at Pralla. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it." He offered Jeslyn the reins of Swift Flight. "Here ya go, she won't do anything crazy with us both up here. So with a light touch, she will respond."
~**I know of a pool over near the mountain, we can stop there and water the horses and rest a bit if you would like.**~
Pralla gave Makya a shy, soft smile. *Thank you.* Her delight in his words just as evident as the sincerity in his. She gave a chuckle at his spoken words and the appraising look Jeslyn was casting between them.
Jeslyn was distracted from her musing on what Makya wouldn’t have said if he didn’t mean it. She was being offered to control Swift Flight herself, sorta. It was better then sitting on one of the older horses and having someone lead her around. She took the reins, and with what seemed to be practiced skill, started directing Swift Flight with the help of rein and knee in the direction she’d wanted to go.
*Sounds lovely. Maybe if it’s as hot as yesterday, we can even take a dip to cool off. Jes, would enjoy that, though not as much as the ride.* Her sending grew stronger as she spoke on a subject she was more familiar with.
Swift Flight moved along as if she had gone this way regularly and as they rounded a copse of trees, a beautiful pool of water fed by a waterfall on one side reflected the days light. The day had grown quite warm by the time they reached the pool. There were many trees that cast shade around the pool and on areas of the pool as well. Sitting on the ground in the shade was Storm, her wings spread out protecting her fish. He laughed as he spoke to Jeslyn, "Alright go ahead and lets stop for a bit. Stretch out, or cool off in the pool, what say you?" He grinned at Pralla as she looked upon the scene. ~**Do you like it?**~ he sent to her privately
Pralla stared in wonder at the site that greeted her eyes. She didn’t even notice when the horses came to a stop, nor did she hear Makya’s words to Jeslyn. It wasn’t until he sent, that she was finally jolted from her amazement. She looked at him with shining eyes. *It’s beautiful, Makya. Thank you for sharing.* She dismounted and unsaddled Spirit Dancer and let her go loose in the clearing, not worrying that she’d wander.
Jeslyn hopped down instantly. She peered over at Pralla and seeing the look on her face snickered. She quickly went about doing what needed doing to stake out Swift Flight, that is once Makya got off her. She minded her own business so the two of them could concentrate on each other.
Makya watched as Jeslyn fussed over Swift Flight. The horse was obviously eating it up. He shook his head then turned to Pralla. Sending privately ~**It's lovely alright, but not as much as you.**~ He was staring at her again.
Turning towards him again, for she had been distracted once more by the beauty of the place, she blinked at first, then his words sunk in. She blushed and sent back. *Quit teasing, Eagle Trainer.* She glances to one side, uncertain. There is only truth in sending, but….
Makya nearly stepped back. His eyes wide, he sent privately ~**Dear lady, is that what you think? That I tease? I only send the truth, what I think of you, I'm sorry if I offend you.**~ He had a concerned look to his face, and turned quickly to check to see how Jeslyn was getting on with Swift, to hide his face more than anything.
At his send she looks up swiftly and meets his eyes. She sees the truth in his eyes, and more importantly hears it in his send. She stares at him in shock, her mind spinning furiously.
As he turns to Jes, her thoughts finally coalesce. *You do not offend, sweet Makya.* She pauses, a bit scared to say what she wants to so badly, and finally settles for a question of her own. *Y-you do?* There are too many emotions roiling around with in her to be easily read.
Jeslyn looks up as Makya turns towards her. She’d already gotten the saddle off and the bit removed, and was busy brushing Swift Flight with a brush she’d found in one of the saddle bags. She smiled and waved at both elves and then went back to grooming Swift Flight, ignoring the two adults.
He watched Jeslyn brushing Swift and felt a warmth building within himself. When he received the send from Pralla, he caught his breath. Finally turning to look at Pralla again, he shaking reaches out and takes her hand, "Come on over here and have a seat near the pool, in the shade, where it's cooler."
She makes no argument as he takes her hand and leads her in the shade next to the pool. She takes a sit on a bit of lush grass, just big enough to provide them both a comfortable seat, if they sit close. She chuckled suddenly. *You are right. It is cooler here.* She felt a fool. Here they were having a serious conversation, and she was laughing. She cursed herself for being a fool ten times over. He must think me such a pup right now. Her mirth quickly fled at that thought. She turned her head and blinked furiously as moisture started to form in her eyes.
Jeslyn peered under Swift Flights neck as she watched her aunt and Makya go sit by the pool in the shade. She murmured to Swift Flight. “Good. Good.”
He was trembling. "Pralla, I'm not good at this. I don't want you to be uncomfortable or think me a fool, but you are beautiful, and just the sight of you brings joy to my eyes." He still held her hand and covered it with his own. He started to say something three times then sighed. His shyness was showing through.
Shocked she turned towards him as he spoke, the shine in her eyes still there. She looks at him in wonder, to happy at his words to say or send anything at first. Something caught her attention in his demeanor. By the High Ones! He’s shy too. She couldn’t help it all the tension within her needed release, it chose to come out in fits of laughter. *Oh you must think me a fool and such a pup, Makya. I’m not laughing at you. I don’t even know why I’m laughing exactly.* Tears now fell freely along with the laughter. *The sight of you and your nearness brings me joy as well.* She couldn’t speak for the laughter, which dwindled down to hiccups before too long as the tension within her drained.
As she sent to him he watched her eyes. Her laughter struck him then the tears worried him, but yet she didn't send as if she were offended or upset. ~**Sweet, Pralla, you suffer from the curse of shyness as well?**~ He started chuckling along with her. He moved one hand to wipe away the tears, then leaning in, ~**I hope you don't mind...**~ and then softly kissed her, trembling greatly, but taking the opportunity as it is there. He pulled back after only a moment, looking for any sign that he overstepped a boundary.
*High Ones, yes, I’m so shy. I’ve watched you for so long--* Her send just stopped and she stilled as a rabbit being spotted by an eagle at his kiss, the hiccups even vanished. She leaned into him as they kissed, shaking like a leaf that it was actually happening, and returned it with as much gentleness as he was. She blinked when he pulled back. Over so soon? She smiled gently and shyly. *Better then I ever imagined.*
He blushed, "For me as well." He stared at her for many moments, then "Perhaps we should see to Jeslyn? Perhaps a dip in the pool?" He tore his eyes away from the maiden and looked over to his horse and the pup. Then looked back to Pralla. "I don't want you to feel...well...I want you to be happy as well, Pralla. I admit I've watched you for some time now, never with any nerve to say anything before now. I really don't know what it is that gives me strength, except for your beauty. You brighten the morning as does the daystar."
Pralla looked over at Jeslyn, and smiled. “She has horses to tend to, trust me, she’s not going anywhere or getting into mischief.” She looks back at him impishly. “A swim would be lovely, and we might be able to pull her away. But don’t count on it or hold your breath.” She blushed at his words and compliments, and looked down embarrassed. *Thank you.* Looking up with her own adoration for him evident on her face. “This conversation is something I never thought would happen.” She reaches out and gently touches his hand. *I am happy, right now. This is a gift you have given me that I will always cherish.* She glances over at Jeslyn. “Shall we see if the pup cares for a swim?”
He looked down where she touched his hand and smiled as he looked back up. "I have to agree. I'm glad I got some courage up...to bring you here." His trembling had died down a bit. He looked towards Jeslyn and smiled at the girl's love of the horses. "Jeslyn?" He called to her. "How 'bout a swim?" He didn't let go of Pralla's hand. His thumb lightly stroking her soft skin.
Jeslyn looked up as Makya called. “Maybe later?” The pleading in her voice evident. After all this was the last time she’d get to see horses until after the Hunters returned from the Hunting trip planned. Not that she’d tell either Pralla or Makya that, ever.
Pralla chuckled. “I warned you.” She looks down to where their hands were joined and watched almost mesmerized as his thumb stroked her skin. It was sending some very strange shivers through her.
He could understand the pups desire to remain close to the horses. He had been much the same regarding the eagles. Without breaking the connection of their hands, he leaned back on the grassy patch, looking at Pralla again. "Thank you for coming here with me. I don't know if I could have gotten the courage up again to ask for a chance to speak with you away from the eyes of all the others."
He watched her face for several moments then started speaking again. "This is going to be a long hunt." He sighed, and then looked down. "I am overjoyed that you have joined me here, but I must apologize for starting something that is about to be put on such a long hold." He looked up again at her, "You'll be here for me when I return won't you?" He had a slight mischievous glint in his eyes, not evil or hateful...but more playful.
“I’m not sure if I could have come if it hadn’t been for Jeslyn as well, to be honest. I’d feel so uncomfortable, being so shy.” She gives a sigh, “I think I’ve dealt with pups so much, I’ve forgotten how to deal with most adults anymore.” She watched him back, studying him, memorizing everything, he’d be leaving soon on the hunt, and who knew when he’d return.
Pralla’s heart almost stopped as his next words mirrored her own thoughts. She squeezed his hand briefly. “Even a few precious moments with you are far better then none at all.” At his playful question, she grinned impishly. “Well now… Let me think a moment. There’s all these lads that want my attention and all.” She held up a finger for each name she called out. “Flar, Flinx, Cailan, Slade, just to name a few.” Her eyes flashed with such mirth she couldn’t contain the laughter that was bubbling up. “Oh, your face was so precious just now.” She leans in so they are nose to nose. “Of course I’ll wait for you. I haven’t found any other as interesting as you.”
He blinked when she mentioned lads and names. Then started chuckling as she named off the lads. His chuckling dies off as she comes nose to nose with him. When she finishes speaking he moves just enough to close the gap and kiss her, his one hand letting go of hers and slides up her arm to hold behind her head as he dared to kiss her again. He let her feel through the kiss how his heart truly felt at the presence of her. This kiss was longer, deeper than the first, but not overly so. He broke the kiss and whispered softly to her, his lips brushing against hers, "Well, that's a good thing." He moved back enough to look into her eyes and smile.
The shivers returned as he kissed her, and intensified as his hand slide up her arm. They weren’t unpleasant, in fact they were quite delightful, and she’d never experienced something like this. Her heart soared at their kiss, longer and deeper then the first. When he pulled back, she almost groaned at the loss of it. As he looked into her eyes and spoke, a soft smile graced her lips. She had no words for what she was feeling. She reached up a hand and gently brushed her finger tips across his cheek and into his hair. Keeping their eye contact, she sent to him the emotions and feelings within her, a tangled mix of love, joy, delight, and so many more.
His heart nearly stopped at her send, but then he opened up his own feelings to her, a mirror of hers. He sat himself up to free his other arm and pulled her against him, embracing her tightly to him, a hand rubbing up and down her back as he did so. Words seemed to have no business here at the present time. Time passed while he held her, memorizing her smell, her feel, and her sendings. The call from Storm called him back to himself. He pulled back to look at her, then looked around for Jeslyn and the horses. He looked up to the sky as well. "How about that swim, Pralla?" He smiled, not able to take his arms from around her fully.
She went willingly into his embrace, reveling in the feelings from him that matched her own. She could have stayed that way forever. More shivers as his hand caressed her back. She closed her eyes just enjoying the feelings and sensations he cause in her. When his eagle called and he pulled back, she felt lost for a moment, though he never fully released her. At his question she nodded, not quite able to speak yet. She cleared her throat, “I’d love to Makya. Shall we try Jes one more time? Or should we just leave her be? She’ll come for a swim I’m sure eventually.” She gave a slight shrug at that last, not really certain at all.
Smiling, he released her and jumped to his feet. He reached down to her, offering his hand to help her to her feet. He removed his vest, then looked her and grinned, almost roguishly. "So? What you gonna swim in? Could get uncomfortable riding back in wet clothes" He smiled at her watching her face as he moved in the direction of the horses, and his discarded saddle. "Hey Jeslyn, we're going to have a swim, you wanna come join?" He was rummaging through his bag as he sent to Jeslyn privately ~**Hey, thanks for the tip, what do you think if I made her a beaded necklace? I have some lavender beads that would look lovely around her neck.**~ He looked up briefly looking for the pup then back to his saddle bags. He pulled out a light fur, and a pair of short pants. He returned to the area that Pralla waited. He spread out the fur on the ground then, blushing, moved to the tree line to change. In next to no time he came out from the trees wearing the short pants with his others draped over his shoulder. He tossed them down on the fur and looked at her with that smile of his.
Pralla blinked, “Wear? Oh High Ones.”
Jeslyn looked over as Makya called out. “No, not yet, thank you.” She had just finished grooming Swift Flight and was getting ready to groom Spirit Dancer. At his send she grinned in delight, and sent back privately. *That would be wonderful, maybe add some feathers from one of your eagles?* She finished moving over to Spirit Dancer, and started grooming her.
When Makya came back from his various errands, Pralla hadn’t moved and looked upset and perplexed.
He noticed her look of dismay and quickened to her side. "What is it? I was only jesting. We can stay here as long as you like...that's why I brought this" indicates the fur "so that when done swimming we can lie here to dry. Don't look that way, sweet. I meant nothing by it." Unable to help himself he pulled her close to him. He ran his hand over her hair, feeling its softness. His bare skin warm to the touch, his muscles rippling beneath the skin as he moved. "Truly I can't stand to see you upset. There is no reason to be." he whispered as he held her.
She looked at him as he questioned her. Before she could utter a word, he’d pulled her into an embrace. She allowed herself a brief moment to enjoy the feel of him, and the closeness, before she pulled back slightly to look at him. “Well, it’s just…” she pauses a moment. “It’s just I don’t think I’ve ever swam in anything. Least not on purpose.” She looked at him bashfully, not sure how he’d take the admission.
He looked at her, then blushed as she made her statement. Way to go stupid, embarrass the poor girl with your desire to be modes,- he thought to himself. "Ummm, I-I-I...." he didn't know what to say, he was stammering like a fool, and looked more the fool. "I apologize, dear Pralla, I meant no harm, swim as you wish." He looked to the ground, High Ones! What a fool I am.
He moved to the water's edge, to allow her to undress or whatever she needed to do, while he gazed at the pool. He ran a hand through his hair, wondering what to do now that he had made such a fool of himself.
She watched him hurry away from her towards the water’s edge. Quickly she followed him and placed a hand on his back. “How could you know? You with your eagles, me watching the pups. It’s not like we are around each other everyday all day.” She waits to see if he’ll turn around, speak, something.
He turned his head in her direction and looked at her, and smiled softly. "Thanks for trying to salvage my pride. You are right, I am better with the birds than with elves, and truth be told, I haven't met with many elves that held my attentions longer than the eagles...other than you." He blushed, "I've watched you from the edges for some time now." His blush deepened as he wondered how she would take that comment.
She looked startled at his admission, then laughed. In fairness and so as not to upset him further, she sent to him why she was laughing. *High Ones! We are a pair. You’ve been watching me from afar, me watching you from afar. Both too shy to approach the other for so long.* Impishness took over in her mirth and she gave him a playful shove, towards the water. While his balance was off she quickly ran off towards the other side of the pond, stripping as she went.
Her laughter was like music, and her send settled his fears. He was about to say something when she shoved him. While he was trying to catch his balance she went running off to the other side of the pool. That sly little... His thoughts trailed off as he started chuckling and laughing. He quickly decided which would be the best course of action, he could run her down, but then decided to take to the water. Shortly after she had run off, he splashed into the water. He was a fair swimmer and was faster under the surface. He dove under the water and made for the approximate area she was headed to.
Hearing a splash she turned as the last of her clothes came off, Makya was no where to be seen. Did he fall in from her push? Concerned she took a step back towards where they had been.
He surfaced slowly so as to not draw attention to himself and saw where she was. He resubmerged and swam the short distance before jumping out of the water and splashing her. "Gotcha!"
She squealed as she was splashed. “YOU! And here I’d thought you’d fallen in and got hurt or something.” Her years of watching pups had honed her, quick as a cracking whip she was flying at him in the water. As she landed against him she tried to dunk him.
Thankfully his time with the eagles had his eye trained for rapid movements and from her previous attempt at pushing him into the water, he was ready for her. When she landed against him, he got a very wicked grin as he grabbed hold of her and fell backward into the water, taking her with him. ~**Get your breath, sweet.**~
Her eyes widened at his send, just barely did she have time to gulp some air before they both went under. *You are so awful, Makya* The laugher and teasing was in her send. *Now let me up, I didn’t get enough air before going under.*
His send back was merely a chuckle as he released her. He too came up for air. "Well, you did catch me off guard with your first little shove. I'll be watching for those in the future." He chuckled. ~**Quite the lovely sight though, was a pity to splash you so suddenly. but got you in my arms faster**~ he sent to her...grinning.
Surfacing, her jaw drops at his trickery to get her in his arms. She swims over to him and wraps her arms around his neck. “You don’t need an excuse, you know.” Then she leans forward and kisses him.
He's taken aback only briefly before wrapping his arms around her to return the kiss. While they kissed he moved so that he was just below her as he propelled them to a spot where he could touch with his feet, once there he stopped and continued kissing her, not stopping this time unless she stopped or they were interrupted by the pup...or the need for air became dire.
She enjoyed the kiss, never wanting it to end. Of their own violation, her hands started trailing along his neck and shoulders, her fingers tangling in his hair. They kissed long and deep, until she remembered Jes. Pulling back and ending the sweetest moment of her life, she smiles at him shyly. *Need to check on Jes.* She sent, because she wasn’t sure just how steady her voice would be. She looks around for Jes and sees her still with the horses, and shakes her head, with a smile at her niece.
He had to catch his breath as she broke the kiss and nodded at her send. ~**Where is the pup?...oh there she is.**~ He too sent because of the uncertainty of his voice stability. He was having difficulties keeping his hands off her, or his arms from around her. He sent to her the feelings he was having again, the happiness, love, contentedness and excitement he was feeling. He had no words to explain it, nor did he want to break the moment with any. After some time he spoke, softly, "It's going to be a hard hunt this year, I think. Hard because my heart will be here."
She shared his feelings, and inability to keep from touching. Barely above a whisper she speaks. “It will be a long hunt this year. My heart won’t be here, and I’ll miss you fiercely. Not to mention worry about you.” She idly trails a finger along the shell of his ear. Her eyes seem to search his face, memorizing everything she can about him.
"Fear not, fair maiden, for I shall return. I wouldn't leave you behind this long if it wasn't for the good of the tribe." His hand had made its way to her neckline and his thumb was gently caressing just below her chin and across her throat as he too seemed to memorize every bit of her face.
Her eyes closed half way as his thumb traveled the front of her throat, and her chin tilled higher, causing her to start leaning back. Reflexively her legs wrapped around his waist to keep herself from falling backwards. Her body seemed to come alive at his touch, it felt as if suddenly she was on fire. A soft moan escaped her.
He held her as she shifted and her legs wrapped around him. He took a deep breath, and it caught in his chest when she moaned. His hand started to slowly caress down from her shoulder down her front, but stopped before reaching her chest. It returned to her shoulder hesitantly and remained there, again the fingers caressing there and rubbing lightly. He chose to send so that she could feel what he felt, and he would be able to get the words out, not sure what would happen if he opened his mouth. ~**Dear, sweet, Pralla. Do not misunderstand me, the idea of you moaning like that beneath me makes my blood run hotter than the daystar, but I dare not, not yet. I must speak with your family, to verify blessings...oh but to feel your skin against all of me....~** his desire and intense feelings for her were laced through his sending.
She shivered at his caress, her skin burning a trail where his hand was. At his send her eyes opened, within disappointment warred with understanding, need, desire, and love. *I understand Makya, but I will tell you now. Should Tiaber decide to be especially tormenting, and deny you, and you abide by that, I will make my brother’s life a horror. I try to teach the pups that an Elf doesn’t hit an Elf, or kill one either, but if Tiaber is a jerk, I will have to serious consider breaking that rule.* She leaned in and kissed him, all her pent up emotions communicating through that kiss, she pulls back and looks around. “It is getting late, perhaps we should return?” Her reluctance thick in her voice, but also practical. Her eyes suddenly twinkle, “besides, we stay here like this much longer, and you may not get a chance to speak to my family.”
Jeslyn watched the two adults from behind Spirit Dancer and Swift Flight. She had a big grin on her face, by the looks of things; she was going to get an Uncle soon. It made the sting of her punishment ahead lessen some, and made it bearable. She saw Pralla looking around and quickly pretended to be busy with something with the horses.
His chuckle was as warm and loving has his arms were as they pulled her close to him. ~**Quite likely, Sweet, quite likely. I don't want to, but we should head back soon. Come, lovely, let's get ourselves dried off. I wasn't kidding about riding wet being uncomfortable. But first, **~ his send cut off as emotions of love, desire, adoration flooded through as he slid one hand up her back to cradle her head as he again kissed her deeply and passionately. It was quite a while before the kiss broke. He stared into her eyes for long moments before sending again ~**Come, my day star. Let's make for the bank.**~ He was already heading in the direction of the pool's bank. Catching a glimpse of Jeslyn, he chuckled softly, "Perhaps I will enlist her to help me caring for Swift Flight..." sending openly to the two **What say you, Jeslyn? Would you like to help me out with Swift? She doesn't get nearly the amount of attention that she should, I need someone that is good with the horses and cares a great deal for them...know anyone that might be able to assist me with this chore?** He had a wide grin on his face as he sent.
The world came to a stand still as his send of emotions combined with his kiss and his touch assaulted her senses. She soaked it up, burning it to her memory, something to fall back on during the long time he would be gone. She held him tightly, fingers tangled almost painfully in his hair as they kissed, she never wanted to let go. Finally he let go and moved towards the bank, she gave a sigh and followed him. She grinned at Makya’s send and privately sent to him. *You know you will have an admirer for life for that? You’ll never get rid of her now.*
Jeslyn whirled at Makya’s send, her eyes wide in surprise and delight. *Really? You need someone to help with her? I could do it.* The excitement and joy was so thick in her send, but then her face fell, and the disappointment was clearly felt in her next send. *I couldn’t do it though, at least not until you return. Starting tomorrow I must work with Silk until the Hunters return from the hunt that is planned. Maybe…. Maybe Slade or Panya would be willing to help you. Or Ce’nedra, Flar, or Flinx.* She turned away as tears fell.
Pralla blinked at Jes’s send as she came out of the water. *You’re working with Silk until the Hunter’s return? How’d that come about?*
Jeslyn shrugged. *It’s for getting into that fight with Flar yesterday.*
Pralla looked confused. While the fight wasn’t a good thing, it wasn’t so bad as to warrant such a long punishment. She would have to talk to Mirrum on the subject.
He lept out of the water and as swift as the eagles he trained he was beside the pup. He knelt down to be closer to her height. He took his hand, placing it under her chin; he gently brought her face to look at him. "Jeslyn, there is no need for the tears, young one. I wouldn't want any other to care for Swift than you. You are quite the best choice to assist me with her. I will get your assistance when I come back from the hunt. Okay?" He looked to Pralla, then gave the pup a soggy hug. After making sure the pup was consoled, he returned to grab up his dry clothes, and went to change. He returned with his pants on, but his top was bare. He walked over and plopped down on the fur that he had set out earlier, setting the wet shorts aside on the ground. "Well, Pralla, sweet, shall we head back or lounge a bit longer?" He had a playful gleam in his eyes.
Jeslyn blinked at Makya’s words. “Really? You’ll wait until you return?” She returned his hug, and her face was delighted. “Thank you. And I’ll do my best by Swift Flight. And you.”
Pralla chuckled. “Thank you for that. As for lounging, maybe a bit longer so I can finish drying off before dressing?” She sat next to him on the fur. “That is if you’re in no hurry…” Her voice trails off and her eyes lower at her last words.
"Hmmm?" He had been caught taking in the sight of her. "Oh, no need for thanks. A pup should be allowed to use their gifts. Hers lies with the horses, so I wanted to give her a bit of responsibility with one until she gets her own." He smiled at her, then pulled her close, "As for hurry, no I'm in no hurry." He kissed her softly and then lay back in the sun. "I could stay here all day, truth be told." He had a great deal to prepare for the hunt, but he was more interested in spending time here. The eagle that had been over eating and preening glided over to land on the ground next to him and spread her wings, enjoying the sun as much as the elves
Pralla’s smile was gentle and loving as he explained his reasons, and she nodded in agreement. She returned his kiss, then as he lay back, she too lay down and snuggled against him, both he and the sun warmed her nicely. “I agree. It’s so quiet and peaceful here.” She gave a contented sigh. “Though I am pretty much dry, and you still have much to do before you leave.” Her fingers traced idle patterns on his chest as she spoke. She wasn’t even aware that she did so, since her eyes were closed as she lay there.
He closed his eyes as she started to trace along his chest. Where her fingers touched him, his skin felt like it burst into flames. He was surprised at his body’s reaction to her touch. He was so happy lying there, and desired more than just her touch, but he had stated he wanted to hold off until he could talk to her family. He lay there with her, in a blissful state until the eagle called near his ear. "Alright, Storm, alright". He sighed as he rolled his head over to look at Pralla. "We better get ourselves back. I hate to do so, but you speak wise with the amount I have to prepare before the hunt." He held her close before sitting up. He sent openly, **Jeslyn? Would you mind my helping you with getting the horses ready for the return trip?** He smiled at Pralla and gently traced her cheek with his fingers. Then he stood up and started gathering up some things, leaving the fur for last while Pralla was still on it. He then went to the horses and began getting the horses ready. He made it appear that he was helping her as they prepped the horses, letting her show him the amount that she knew of handling horses. He had to smile at her enthusiasm regarding the beasts.
Jeslyn looked up at Makya. “Sure.” She starts getting the saddles on and cinched, bridles in.
Pralla gave a sigh as he departed. Quickly she dressed and picked up the fur, walking towards the two. She watched them with the horses. She was so delighted that Makya wanted Jes to help him with Swift Flight; it was so sweet of him. She watched him close, memorizing everything about him. In a few short days he’d be gone for who knew just how long.
After the horses were ready he whispered to Jeslyn, "Go ahead and mount up, I'm going to Pralla for a moment. I'm trusting you with Swift now." Grins brightly at the pup, then heads to Pralla. Taking the fur from her he puts it away and then returns to her, but before she can mount up onto her horse, he takes her around the waist pulling her close and kissing her again. "I'm going to miss this while I'm gone." He grinned at her, then lifted her up onto the horse, with little effort. He looked up at her for a moment then vaulted to the back of Swift, just behind Jeslyn. "Shall we then?" He gave a call and the bird took to the air, and soared higher and higher following along with the riders.
Pralla melted as he kissed her yet again, then let out a startled yelp as he lifted her to her horse. She blushed and gave a chuckle. “Sorry. You caught me off guard there. I will miss this as well.”
Jeslyn grinned at Pralla’s yelp, but wisely didn’t say a thing. At Makya’s question she clucked to Swift Flight and got her moving towards home. Thrilled that she was actually the one controlling the horse. She really hoped things worked out for Pralla and Makya, she really liked him. And if her father tried being mean to Pralla over Makya, she was going to kick him in the shins.
Pralla clucked to Spirit Dancer and got her moving as well. Pralla studied both Makya and Jes as they rode back to the village. She was very proud of her niece’s handle of horses. Something else that came easily to the pup, only this one she loved far more then tanning leathers. Then she memorized and absorbed everything about Makya she possibly could, The way he sat the horse, how he was with Jes, the way he looked to his Eagle. No small detail went unnoticed. She’d need these memories to get her through while the hunter’s were gone.
Nothing had ever kept his attention like the eagles before and here he was, unable to take his mind off of Pralla. He wasn't worried about Jeslyn and handling of Swift Flight, a prankster the horse may be, but she was well behaved enough and Jeslyn talented enough that they got along fine. His mind drifted to Pralla, ~**Pralla, I hope that you will allow me another chance to spend time with you before I leave on the hunt. If not I understand completely, but it would be wonderful to have such memories to take with me to ease the ache my heart will suffer from being so far from my day star.**~ He blushed slightly at the statement as he poured his heart into the send. He knew he loved her, and couldn't stand the thought of not having her by his side, but he wouldn't push either. He would talk to Tiaber, probably after the hunt, and present his feelings for the elf maiden and hope that the family would allow him to court her. He wasn't sure what he would do if Tiaber denied him.
Pralla had a smile full of joy at Makya’s send, and it was evident in her return send. *High Ones, I hope you’d spend time with me before you leave. It’s going to be hard enough having you so near, and yet so far until you leave. And let’s not even go into the separation this upcoming hunt will bring.* Her send was tinged with a bit of sadness at that last.
Soon they neared where the horses were kept. “Well I guess were home now.” She sighs as she dismounts. “Let’s get these gals taken care of, and then find us all something to eat? I’m a bit hungry. We forgot to bring something with us today to eat.” She chuckled at how unprepared they had been for such a day. But it had still been a wonderful day. She and Makya had managed to both overcome their shyness to discover they shared mutual feelings for each other, and Jes got a horse that was now her responsibility to care for when Makya was busy.
He hopped off Swift Flight and allowed Jeslyn to care for the horse after the ride. He watched Pralla and then went to assist her. “I would really like to join you and Jeslyn for something to eat, but I have many responsibilities that I must see too. Perhaps another time?” Then he sent to her privately ~**But I was thinking, perhaps tonight we could go for a night ride. Just you and me. I know of an overhang that you can see the stars beautifully. I am not much of a stargazer, but I would like the time alone with you, if you would like to do so. I’ll meet you here at dark.**~ He looked into her eyes, and stared for a moment, then turned to Jeslyn. “Thank you very much for you help. I know I have chosen well in my helper.” He smiled at the pup then he turned and kissed Pralla’s hand before turning and heading to his hut and the eagle keeps. Storm glided along beside him.
Pralla was stunned at his request, but delighted as well. She had a hard time even forming a reply, and watched him walk off. Turning to Jeslyn. “Come dear, let’s go get something to eat and get you home.”
