Alien World
Back at the beginning of this new world’s
evolution, at about the same time as the dinosaurs were coming into existence
on earth, dragons were the test subjects of Mother Nature here. They flourished
well on this world, adapting to the various climates, and evolving larger than
the small cat sized shape they started with. At about the time the mysterious
cause that wiped out the dinosaurs happened, a branch of the dragons started
evolving along a different path. They started becoming more upright, walking
more often on their hind legs then not.
As time and generations passed, skin grew smoother and lost its scales. This branch of the species looks very human-like, but has certain characteristics that harken back to their dragon ancestry. They can have a few or several characteristics, from a tail to horns, wings, sharp claws on the fingers and toes; some even throw back and have fine scales instead of smooth skin. Certain things though are common, they tend to stand and walk on the balls of their feet, heels off the ground, sharp looking teeth, reptilian eyes. The Dragons live to right around 1000 years, adulthood being at 125 years, and Dragon-oids to right about 800 years, adulthood reached at 100 years.
The society is set up with medium-sized settlements. There is trade and people are known to pick up and move on to another settlement. There are also small multi-family farms scattered about on the world. And even a few hermits can be found here and there.
Technology is mostly medieval, but they also have knowledge of their galaxy. Not primitive knowledge, but more modern, meaning they have high powered telescopes and what would equal our earliest attempts at space probes. Other than that, they aren’t very advanced technology-wise, so, no, no guns of any sort.
Climate and terrain is much like earth, but with a bit less water, and only three large-ish continents and a few small islands. There is a continent in the northern hemisphere, and one in the southern, and one right around the equator of the planet. The equator continent is of course humid, has jungle and rain forest, and by some strange quirk, it has mountains completely ringing the outer edge of it with small beaches here and there. The northern continent is close to the planets north pole and colder. Its terrain and temperatures are much like the North American continent of earth. The southern continent is about where Australia would be, and is climate and terrain wise very similar.
STORYLINE:
Humans had come a long way in space flight. They had colonized the Moon of Earth, Mars, and several Moons of Jupiter. And it was getting close to time to need to expand once more. There are several crews exploring off in many different directions of space trying to find more living space. Six Astronauts were on a routine space expedition, exploring out beyond Pluto, when something appeared out of nowhere . That something was an unstable wormhole, and the space ship was helpless to avoid it. After much shaking and jarring, the craft exits the wormhole, not far from a planet very similar to earth of old. Instrument readings tell the crew they are far across the galaxy. So far they’ll never make it back in their life time. The crew manages to land on the world, but unknown to them; there are indigenous, intelligent life forms already on this planet. There are dragons of Earth Myth here, as well as a human-looking off shoot. The two co-exist together as a species.
NEED:
6 humans would be great, but we’ll have to see what is put up for characters. Human-Dragons (of course), I’d really like for any actual Dragons to be more supporting characters to their humanoid cousins then actual PCs
NOTES:
>> As the Dragons find the Earthers, they will take them as slaves. The Earthers aren’t fighters, more science-y types, so it won’t exactly be hard.
>> I don’t mind multi characters, as long as you can play them. Only thing I ask is that if you have an Earth Character, your Dragon-ish character doesn’t get them, just so there’s more interaction, and less talking to yourself sort of thing.
>> The Earthers will be slaves in this story, after all there’s only so many. They can be owned by more than one Dragon-ish, if writers wish.
