Personal Symbol: a Viking dragon in pewter, pendant on a leather thong.
it is said that it once belonged to her famous ancestor, Dreki the Fearless.
She isn’t sure if that is true, but hopes it is so. It has the look of age
about it. She’s even been known to use it to impress wax on missives she has
written.
Weapons: Stiletto, and a Scimitar
Miscellaneous: also has the nicknames of HafDreki (Sea Dragon) – called by some of the Emerald Rose crew, LittDreki (Little Dragon) – given to her by Cap’n Sampford, HugrakkrDreki (Fearless/Brave Dragon) – called by some of the Emerald Rose crew, and IssDreki (Ice Dragon) – know by other sailors not of the Emerald Rose,
Bio: Disa is descended from a once famous Viking warrior, Dreki the Fearless. She is a throw back to his kind of time, much to the horror of her upstanding Christian family. When she was 14 she ran away from her home after one of her father's particularly brutal beatings. Vowing to never return again. Somehow, in a high fever resulting from her beating, her inadequate shelter and food, she managed to make it too the port city of Bergen. People there avoided her, thinking she had some sort of plague or disease; she wandered to the docks where a pirate captain happened to be moored for restock. He saw her and being more intelligent and not so superstitious, took her onboard and nursed her back to health. Grateful she stayed with him, liking the pirate life. The crew wasn't happy about it at first, but she worked hard, and never complained, until she was eventually accepted. Not too long ago, the Captain and all but Disa were killed by a British ship that had been hunting them for some years. As she drifted on the wreckage, she soon washed ashore on Jamaica. Now Disa is looking for a new ship and captain to sail with in the port city of Port Royal.
Side Note: she has no clue as to who her real parents are. Having been left in this Shadow and raised by those she thinks are her family. But in truth her mother is the same Sea Witch that is Angela’s mother, thus making Angela a half sister, though neither have any clue. Her Father came from the Courts of Chaos. (I’m thinking maybe he was also her legendary ancestor? These people “think” they are descended from him, but aren’t actually. Maybe his “offspring” to start the linage were adopted? Or orphaned and he took them in as his own at the time. A safe place to tuck her away during Brand’s madness. I’m basing her “ancestor” to have “lived” in about the time the Vikings first came to power.) also her amulet? Maybe a Power Item/Artifact/Creature from her Father? Not too sure how all that works still.
Extras: Sword à Andask à I can bring my cold sharpness to burn your enemies' flesh, and can warn you of hostile thoughts and emotions, never need cleaning or sharpening, and as you can see I can speak to you. I know many languages, can do mathematics, logic problems and am literate. I can sing, hum, whistle, even mimic the speech of others.
Sentient Pendant, though not much known about it, except sword and pendant seem to know each other, and when ever ‘misplaced’ always seems to find its way back to Disa.

Cap’n Sampford, the Crew, and the Emerald Rose
Cap’n Arthur Sampford
A born Brit, he grew up from a humble background. He joined the British Navy as soon as he was able, but found it didn’t agree with him, but he attempted to stick it out, since sailing did agree with him. It wasn’t until a pirate ship sunk the ship he was serving on, that he found there was another way of life at sea; the Navy doesn’t really want one to know these things after all. He managed to convince the Cap’n of the pirate ship to let him join. That was where he met and befriended Roidh “Red” MacRory. Pirate life definitely agreed with him. He became the youngest known pirate to command a ship.
Sampford is a thoughtful and down to earth man. He has certain values strange to a pirate. He doesn’t believe in the taking of children for sexual use, nor the mistreatment of slaves. He also has a soft, protective spot for the underdog or mistreated person. He runs a fair and fairly relaxed ship, though in his later years, before his death, he’d become withdrawn from the crew, busy with information gathered to find the ships with the biggest haul. He’d started leaving the day to day running of the Emerald Rose to his friend Red.
While he had started to become distant before Disa’s arrival on the ship, after her arrival was even more prominent. Part of the reason was nursing her back to health, of course, but after she awoke, he didn’t want to seem to favor her in any way. Plus as she finished growing up on the Emerald Rose, she’d turned into a rather beautiful woman. Unfortunately, he’d seen her as a child, and though distant, he’d helped finish her raising to adulthood. So, he couldn’t get past that to even think of a romance with her. Not to mention, it wouldn’t be right as the Cap’n to have a relationship with a crew member. It would definitely seem like too much favoritism. Not that he didn’t get jealous of the lovers she eventually did have on ship.
The crew of the Emerald Rose
The current crew was mostly Norsemen. They replaced the crewmembers lost on a raid close to the North Countries. Only about six of the crew is from the same areas as the Cap’n, Red being one of them.
Red is the official-unofficial/unspoken Quarter Master/First Mate. His being a close friend of Sampford’s has gained him this honour. He prefers sleeping with the crew though. Allowing for the second cabin on the Emerald Rose be quarters for special prisoners.
The Emerald Rose
The Emerald Rose is Sampford’s baby. It was his first and only ship. The atmosphere was fairly relaxed, crew laughing and joking more often then not. Sampford, having once been a crew member himself, pretty much allowed free will and rein, except for in the cases of children and slaves. He was adamant on the sexual abuse of children or the mistreatment of slaves. Perpetrators caught in either act, were swiftly and harshly punished, set as examples. For the most part the crew generally followed those two rules. It was rare to find an offender of either. And besides, Cap'n Sampford was really good at finding the biggest prey to enrich the crew.
