Humans, Preservers, & Trolls
THE
HUMANS
The Humans have recently come to Crescent Island. They have split from a larger group on the Main Land and left to find somewhere else to colonize, discovering the Island in their search. The settlement only has 25 members total, but they are quickly learning their new chosen home.
The Mainland Humans have tales about the Forest, Mountain, and Sea Creatures. One tribe calls then Demons, the another thinks they are the souls of their dead reincarnated, and one thinks they are magic shape-shifting wolves that hunt their same hunting grounds.
THE PRESERVERS
Five of the tiny winged creatures also settled here with Chillsword and his people. For many centuries they were a part of the tribe, then they just disappeared. There are still stories of the little sometimes pests, sometimes great helpers. They’re mixed stories.
The Preservers remember the Elves, and have seen the Trolls and Humans on the Island. As far as is known, there are no preservers on the Mainland, but it is a big world and the Elves there haven't explored everything.
THE TROLLS
Currently there is a Troll tribe on the Island, it is 42 members strong. They know of the Seaside Holt Elves, but the Elves are unaware of them. They once had communications with the Catrider Elves, but that has been lost for 6500 years now. They have tunnels all over the Island and elsewhere. As a species they have been on this Island for roughly 9000 years. Once their numbers were much larger, but the centuries have dwindled their numbers down.
There roughly 150-300 trolls on the Mainland, a 100 live and work in the central cavern the rest are scattered through farmers and mining outposts.
The main cavern is under the forest and mountains closes to Stoneforge Holt. while mining is deeper into the mountains and tunnels leading out to Reefside Holt and under the deep to Crescent Island. Skullhammer has trade agreements with the king there and goods from both the Mainland and the Island are exchanged ever so often. A good number of Troll farms are under the forest floor and bolt holes in key locations. Underground fishing happens but not much hunting sense the trolls are not fond of sunlight. They prefer to trade for meat from the elves in Stoneforge and other items they don’t find or create on their own.
